Located a bit over an hour away from Madrid, this classic restaurant in the beautiful town of San Lorenzo de El Escorial has been a benchmark for local gastronomy since 1977. They are famous for their Gran Cocido de Charolés, a stew of chicken broth and chickpeas served with a variety of meats and vegetables; it is only served on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and they only prepare 10 servings. There is also a large menu of traditional dishes based on market products and a wine list that offers a number of old bottlings of Rioja.
