Il Forno Campo de' Fiori
Rome, Italy
In 1600, philosopher and freethinker Giordano Bruno was burned at the stake in this piazza of the city center of Rome. Although the ovens at Il Forno Campo de’ Fiori haven’t burned for quite as long, this institution has been in operation since the early 19th century. Today the ovens are dedicated to churning out now-famous pizza al taglio which is sold by th slice.by the slice)– This variety, which is more bread than pizza, is a Roman classic and is normally served with slices of mortadella (but Nutella for those with a sweet tooth isn’t frowned upon).
