Macelleria Popolare

After closing his wildly popular Mangiari di Strada, which served  intellectual versions of street food from every region of Italy, Giuseppe Zen decided to concentrate on this tiny market stall inside the Mercato della Darsena, on the freshwater harbor of Milan, which he calls the “butcher shop of the people.” Macelleria Popolare sells meat from pasture-raised, grass-fed animals to take home but also serves a discerning clientele, perched up on a few stools, a selection of meat delicacies, with a focus on unsung cuts: brains, liver, mutton kebab, diaphragm and sweetbreads.
